Christmas Matcha Puppy Chow (Muddy Buddies)

This Christmas matcha puppy chow is an easy and nostalgic no-bake holiday treat. It's festive, vegan-friendly, and perfect for gifting.

Ingredients

  • 1 c white chocolate chips or discs
  • 0.25 c natural cashew butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 4 c Chex cereal
  • 0.25 c miniature Christmas chocolate candies, plus more for garnishing
  • 2 tbsp assorted Christmas sprinkles, plus more for garnishing
  • 1 c confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder

Instructions

  1. Combine the white chocolate, cashew butter, vanilla, and salt in a double boiler (a small heatproof bowl set over a pot with about 1 inch of simmering water).
  2. Simmer the water in the double boiler and stir the chocolate mixture until smooth, creamy, and fully combined.
  3. Place the Chex cereal in a large bowl and pour the melted chocolate mixture over the top. Gently stir until all of the cereal pieces are evenly coated.
  4. Transfer the cereal mixture to a large sheet tray lined with parchment paper. Evenly scatter the chocolate candies and sprinkles across the top. Let the cereal mixture sit for about 10 minutes until partially but not completely hardened (this will help the chocolate candies and sprinkles to stick).
  5. Transfer the cereal to a large storage container.
  6. In a small bowl, stir together the confectioners’ sugar and matcha powder. Sift this mixture into the storage container on top of the cereal.
  7. Cover with a lid and shake until evenly coated. If needed, break up any large cereal clumps by hand.
  8. Let the completed cereal mixture set in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  9. Before serving, transfer the Christmas Matcha Puppy Chow to a bowl and garnish with additional chocolate candies and sprinkles. Discard any extra confectioners' sugar that did not stick to the cereal.
  10. Store any leftover Christmas Matcha Puppy Chow in a sealed container at room temperature for several days.
