A Cookie-Inspired White Chocolate Macadamia Matcha Latte

If you love nostalgic flavor combinations, this white chocolate macadamia matcha latte is for you. Based on the classic cookie flavor, this matcha latte features nutty macadamia milk, sweet white chocolate, and some optional (but highly encouraged) fun toppings. It will make you feel like a kid again.

Because my husband and I spend winters on the northernmost Hawaiian island, I'm a huge macadamia nut fan. In fact, I have a whole guide to tropical vegan recipes, many of which feature macadamias. This is the companion recipe to my White Chocolate Macadamia Matcha Cookies, and undoubtedly the pro move is to dip the cookies into the latte.

I'm excited for you to try this fun, dessert-inspired latte. The combination of flavors works year-round, and you can enjoy it either hot or iced. And although it sounds indulgent, this recipe is vegan-friendly and far healthier than anything you'd find at a coffee shop. I know this white chocolate macadamia matcha latte is going to make you smile!

Ingredients in this White Chocolate Macadamia Matcha Latte

This tropical matcha latte features just a few simple ingredients. And, unlike coffee shop versions, there are no sugary or artificially-flavored syrups. First, in order to get a nutty macadamia flavor, you'll make the latte using unsweetened macadamia milk (which you can find in health food stores or online); it's delicious and creamier than almond milk. Second, in order to get all that indulgent white chocolate flavor, you'll melt a small amount of white chocolate into the macadamia milk.

In addition to those two flavor powerhouses, you'll of course use matcha. I also like to add vanilla extract and a tiny bit of sea salt in order to get that classic cookie taste.

How to Make a Vegan White Chocolate Latte

If you're vegan, you can easily make a dairy-free white chocolate latte. Just make sure to choose vegan white chocolate chips. Because this recipe uses macadamia milk, the base of the latte is already dairy-free. If you want to add some whipped cream as I've shown in these photos, opt for coconut whip, which will enhance the tropical flavors in this recipe.

How to Make This White Chocolate Macadamia Matcha Latte

Although it looks impressive, this cookie matcha latte isn't hard to make, especially if you omit the toppings. For everyday sipping, you can make the latte itself in just a few minutes. For a cozy coffee shop vibe or a slow weekend morning, try it with the white chocolate macadamia rim and coconut whip I've shown here.

If you want to make the decorative (and very tasty!) rim, just melt some white chocolate and use it to coat the rim of a serving glass, then roll it in crushed macadamias. White chocolate can be tricky to melt, so heat it very gently to avoid burning and stir frequently. Using a double boiler is always the best bet, although a microwave can work if you're careful.

To make the latte, you'll just heat macadamia milk with a tablespoon of white chocolate chips. You can the either use it right away for a hot latte, or chill it for several hours for an iced latte. Then, all you have to do is whisk the matcha with a splash of water and add it to the white chocolate macadamia milk.

To complete the coffee shop vibe, you can top the completed latte with whipped cream or coconut whip and a few additional macadamias. Isn't this a fun combination?

Ingredients and Substitutions

Here's what you'll need for this white chocolate macadamia matcha latte recipe, as well as some thoughts, tips, and possible substitutions. If you make any substitutions, I'd love to hear about it in the comments section below.

  • Unsweetened macadamia milk. Look for macadamia milk in shelf-stable cartons at artisan grocery stores. I like the brand Milkadamia; make sure to choose their unsweetened version since the white chocolate has some sweetness.
  • White chocolate chips. Remember to choose vegan white chocolate if needed.
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sea salt. I like to add a few pinches of flaky sea salt to this cookie-inspired latte in order to balance the flavors. If you want to do the same, make sure to use a very fine salt so that it dissolves readily.
  • Matcha powder. I adore Matcha Nude; use the code ROGUE to get 15% off your order.
  • Garnishes. If you want a photo-worthy latte, you can dip the serving glass in white chocolate and then roll it in crushed macadamia nuts. Feel free to add some whipped cream or coconut whip on top too.

Closing Thoughts

This cookie-inspired matcha latte is fun, unique, and nostalgic. The combination of the nutty macadamia milk and indulgent white chocolate is a delight, especially since it's not overly sweet like flavored coffee shop drinks. In fact, the only sugar comes from a modest spoonful of white chocolate chips; that means you can still feel good about sipping this special treat.

Whether you make a hot latte on a winter day, or enjoy an iced version in the summer sunshine, this is truly a combination that works year-round. And don't forget to bake up a batch of these White Chocolate Macadamia Matcha Cookies, because I know you'll be craving them after having this latte.
